Committees


The Georgia Pain Initiative is organized into committees which focus on specific areas of work around pain management.

To become involved in a committee, please contact the Georgia Pain Initiative or contact the chair of the committee.

Public Policy Committee
The Public Policy Committee works with policy makers at the organizational, state and national level. Members of this committee include staff of the Georgia Composite Medical Board, state legislators, and government relations professionals.

Professional / Provider Support Committee
The Professional / Provider Support Committee assists physicians, pharmacists, nurses, mental health providers, and other health providers with information about pain management regulations and laws; trends and treatments; implementing change in institutions and practices; and pain management educational and training opportunities. The Professional/Provider Support Committee works closely with the Public Policy Committee, and the Education and Awareness Committee to develop and promote resources for health care providers.

Education and Awareness Committee
The Education and Awareness Committee identifies opportunities to educate health care providers, policy makers, law enforcement, people with pain, caregivers and the public about pain management. The committee is dedicated to making people aware of the balance of addressing the needs of people in pain while mitigating the abuse and diversion of pain medications.

Sustainability Committee
Members of the Sustainability Committee work on projects in the areas of member recruitment, funding and communication with members. For more information on membership, please visit the Members page.
